 As a member of SpotABusiness.com© you have access to several features that will help you get the word out about you and your business online.
Once logged in you'll notice a new menu in the right navigation pane appear titled 'My Menu'. This menu will allow you to go directly to your own profile where you can edit all the details and appearance as you wish, as well as link your YouTube videos, upload personal photos, private message/email other members, join groups of like businesses, create discussions, comment on other profiles and more.
At the core of these features is your ability to 'Connect' with other SpotABusiness.com© members. You simply do this by visiting other member's profiles and hovering over the 'connections' tab and selecting 'request connection' [IMAGE].
By all members beginning to form connections it not only forms direct communication between one another but makes it much easier for potential customers to find you. This also has the much added benefit of forming extremely keyword rich and search engine relevant links with your name and URL in the mix.
One of the more unique features of being a SpotABusiness.com© member is the 'Profile URL'. This is your SpotABusiness URL that links directly to your personal profile. Your Profile URL is simply your username appended to the end of our URL. For example:
http://spotabusiness.com/yourusername
HINT: Use this URL when making other link trades and site submissions to really get the word out about you and your company!
ALERT: It may take up to 24 hours for your new Profile URL to be set. To edit your profile details simply hover over the 'Edit' link atop your profile. The dropdown menu has three choices...
1. Update User Profile
2. Update User Image
3. Remove Image
All three are pretty self explanatory. The last two allow you to simply upload and/or remove your own photo for your profile. If you do not choose to upload an image you're profile will have a standard icon assigned.
While SpotABusiness.com can handle large photo sizes it's best to upload reasonably sized images to keep your profile loading fast and avoiding potential page skewing issues.
Updating User Profile offers a few more options. The 'Follow Us' tab allows you to choose from a list of the most popular social networking sites and display their buttons on your profile. Simply check the ones you want visible, type in your username or id for each particular site and hit the 'update' button on the bottom of the page.
At this time the profile layout is the same for every user. We do this to keep uniformity among the site and prevent erroneous or unvalidated HTML code on the site. We do however plan to create a number of pre-made profile layouts that you can choose from in the future. Stay tuned!
